TechTeam: MedReport

2019

Overview

The Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH) tasked TechTeam with building an app to help medical providers quickly look up and report conditions and diseases to them. Through the app, MedReport, providers can search diseases to find time frame for reporting, numbers to call, and guidance on whether or how to submit an isolate to the lab.

Problem

From interviews with CDPH we identified two key issues. CDPH was struggling to effectively teach health practitioners about HIPAA and physicians were having difficulty navigating the CDPH website to find the list of diseases they were required to report.

Solution

I was lucky to be a part of an incredible three person UI/UX design team, and partner with a talented three person developers team. We worked to create an interface that was both informative and convenient for health practitioners while keeping the CDPH style guide in mind. We drew inspiration from apps like Yelp and Quizlet to design a more streamlined reporting process. After much collaboration with our developers team, three renditions and one year later, we were able to transform our Sketch drafts to a working app.

MedReport is now available in the App Store for medical providers to download.
